The Night Sea Hell

A Night of Steam and Myth

The Sea Hell was created here 1200 years ago by the eruption of Mt. Tsurumi. It is said that here, in Steam Village, lived a small Oni (a Japanese Ogre) with a problem: he lacked confidence! He had good reason, however - this Oni was without his club. One night, the little Oni swore an oath that he would go find the club said to be at the ends of Hell. No one would make fun of him with a weapon such as that. Little did he know the terrifying trials and curious companions that awaited him along his journey. Will the little Oni find his club and true happiness? Come and discover the answer for yourself...

1. The Oni’s Throat

The entrance to Hell. Feel the roar of the Oni in the ground beneath your feet as eerily flickering torches guide you onward into the unknown.

2. Steam Village

The Oni play beyond billowing columns of steam, while one little Oni without a club goes in search of a weapon...and his pride.

“All right, this is it! No more sitting around, going nowhere! It’s time to make a change! I’m finding that club and I’ll travel the lengths of Hell if I have to! I’m off!”
So saying, the little Oni without a club left on a journey that would be filled with frights, friends, and adventure!

3. Magma Valley

A valley of bubbling, boiling red magma. Are you brave enough to cross the stepping stones and forge your way onward?

“I’m the Stonebridge Stone! Summon your courage and step upon me, little one, if you want to cross the magma alive!”

4. Rain Grotto

A crying rain cloud hides in this water-drenched cave. Can you weather the driving rain and crash of thunder?

“Why do you cry, Raincloud?”
“I cry because everyone hates me when I rain...that’s why I cry.”
“I don’t hate you. Let’s be friends!”

5. Winds of Paradise

How could it be that wondrous lotuses bloom here in the depths of Hell? Calming wind chimes sound in the Winds of Paradise...

“Are you here, Wind?”
“No one knows me. No one sees me.”

“I know you. Be my friend!”

6. Oni Footbath

A footbath of 100% hot springs water that’s sure to revive even the most exhausted traveler. The Oni’s club can’t be much farther now!

7. Fire Needle Mountain

Our story reaches its climax at the dreaded Fire Needle Mountain! Our little Oni will need to summon all his courage if he’s going to claim that club!

“I made it at last! This is the scariest place of all, Fire Needle Mountain!”
“And there’s my club, my very own club! And what an adventure I’ve had, filled with peril...but also many friends!” Just when the little Oni’s courage failed, his friends Stone, Raincloud, and Wind came to the rescue. “Don’t give up, little one! You’ve made it this far! You’re the bravest Oni of all! We’ll help you cross Fire Needle Mountain!” And so, with their help, the little Oni got his club. “But you know what I realized?” the little Oni said. “Once I got my club, I understood that what I really wanted all along was the courage to make this trip, and the friendship I felt when I met all of you! Thanks, you guys, I wouldn’t have made it without you!”
